The Force Operations Group Difference

With new Defensive tactics programs springing up every year it is hard to determine which course or instructor is best for your officers and your department. Below are some of the key factors that set FOG apart from the rest.

Applicability

The techniques in the FOG system are designed to be effective for any law enforcement officer regardless of gender, size, age, or ability level. While most other programs rely on physical attributes such as strength and speed, the techniques in the FOG program are based on leverage and timing. Therefore they are highly effective against a larger or stronger subject in the real world. The FOG system is based in control and because of this, the likelihood of injuries to both the officer and the subject are greatly diminished.

Liability

Using force is ugly, throwing punches, knees and elbows can make a situation look far worse than it really is.  One allegation of excessive force can have a ripple effect on a department.  Not only can it jeopardize the department’s relationship with its community but it can make officers hesitate to use force when justified and cause them to be injured.  All techniques in the FOG program are designed to maximize effectiveness while minimizing injury to both the subject and the officer. When the FOG techniques are applied correctly they are far more humane than throwing strikes which fail to give an officer any control and appear excessive to the untrained eye.

Active Duty Law Enforcement Officers

Force Operations Group’s instructor core is comprised of active duty law enforcement officers that have all worked in the most dangerous cities on the east coast.  Every FOG instructor has not only committed their lives to training and teaching self-defense, but have used the FOG system in real time use of force situations.  The benefit of having current law enforcement officers as our instructors is immeasurable.  Having instructors that not only can teach techniques, but know how they function “on the street” during a dynamic situation is what sets FOG apart from other training organizations.  Because we are active duty law enforcement officers we have access to and have trained in all kinds of tactical gear.   Your equipment can effect everything.  Techniques may work in PT gear, but that is not the reality when it comes to required equipment from your department. Having said that, wearing your issued equipment can be cumbersome.  Heavy and bulky equipment can cause certain techniques to become useless, that is why every technique used in the FOG program is tested in different tactical gear to ensure its functionality.
